“My passion for blogging was revitalized. I learned that there was an art to blogging and a science and a method behind it.”

Meet Lora Krulak, a Blog that Converts Graduate, an author, and nutritional muse. I asked her five questions, and here’s what she had to say:

1. What did you think about blogging BEFORE BTC

I have been blogging since the end of 2009 and I truely believd that people found your blog organically. That a catchy headline or good design or a great photo would get people there. Perhaps a spot on FoodBuzz or one great post would keep people coming back. I also thought that a large Twitter following meant something. I thought I had to get as much content out there as possible and I was bored with blogging.

2. What did you think about blogging AFTER going through the training?

My passion for blogging was revitalized. I learned that there was an art to blogging and a science and a method behind it. There is a reason that people come back to your blog and why they sign up to your list. That blogging is not an entity of its own but part and parcel of your whole social media package and brand.

I was relieved to learn that it is not about how much content you have out there but how much great content that is consistent with your brand, helps to build traffic and can actually be a entertaining game to play.

3. What big problem were you facing before BTC and how did BTC help you solve that.

I had a lot of issues that I was facing before BTC.

Getting people to comment on my posts, Opting in to my mailing list, letting people know that I was going to sell them something let alone selling them something.

BTC gave me the language and the structure and thus the confidence to do this.

The course also clearly laid out the steps in actually creating a post. Derek presented a topic and gave us the structure and the HOW TO in order to solve the issue. Not many courses actually do that. I have taken a lot of courses.

4. What sepecific results have you achieved as the result of this training.

I am not a numbers girl but here goes.

After I sent out the first BTC/Halpernesque “Content Archetype” post I received over 20 emails, 7 phone calls, a few blog comments, one “lora’s tweet able” and several retweets.

Prior to this post I hardly got anything except a few friends telling me they liked my stories or saying hello.

All of the comments & letters were about how brilliant my post/recipe was. Honestly, it was kale.

5. What would you tell another “new student” of BTC. What words of advice would you have now that you have taken the program?

Take the course if you want to learn how to blog. Do all of the homework and don’t skip anything. If you skip anything you will miss a huge chunk of what Derek is talking about. He is not shy on words, but he is also not one to mince his words.

Read his blog while you are taking the course because it suppliments the course. And post his info-graphic on “the anatomy of a blog post” on your wall. It is gold. 🙂
