Meet Scott Britton, who was once a slave to his blog and saw little results. I asked him five questions and this is what he said:
What did you think about blogging BEFORE enrolling in Blog that Converts?
I thought the key to building a blog readership was creating more content. So I slaved and slaved, with little results. I also thought the most important thing was a large social media following vs. email address…Doh!
What did you think about blogging AFTER going through the training?
In terms of building a list, it’s just as much about design and promotion as creating great content. In terms of building an online business, start with creating a product sooner than later and LET THAT GUIDE YOUR CONTENT.
Each post should have a purpose. I’m doing that now and it’s been incrementally better. If you want to develop thought leadership / WOM, name something (i.e. a SPS [Note From Derek: I Talk about the SPS inside Module 1) and insert it into as many online/offline conversations as possible. This was all new to me and incredibly valuable.
What big problem were you facing BEFORE BTC? What from BTC helped you solved that problem?
I was creating content aimlessly with no clear direction. BTC helped me realize that I needed to create a product + a SPS to help market that product.
I now have a ton more direction to my content creation and its actually driving me revenue! Before I was just creating content to gain influence…
I wasn’t able to understand my true audience because I wasn’t focused on collecting email addresses. Now I not only understand my audience better, but also can communicate with them easier (and entirely separate if I want!)
What specific results have you achieved as the result of this training?
* Launched 2 digital products that have made me more than 1K with another one on the way
* Grew my email list 48%
* Received speaking opportunities to the Consulate of CANADA on my blog niche and Hofstra University!
What would you tell another “new student” of Blog that Converts? What words of advice would you have now that you’ve gone through the program?
Derek’s course makes you think about maintaining a blog and writing content in a whole new way. He’s brought direction to my blogging which in turn has manifested itself in revenue.
Derek teaches you how to “work smart” instead of slave away to get results. I highly reccomend this course to anyone who wants to get serious about building an online platform and accruing the maximum value from their content.
